KEY MOMENT: Adrian Gonzalez hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning, turning a 3-2 deficit into a 5-3 lead. The home run was the 18th of the season for Gonzalez, who drove in five runs. Gonzalez singled in Carl Crawford in the fourth inning, reducing the Dodgers' early deficit to 3-1. And Gonzalez knocked in another run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly to center field. Gonzalez now has 88 runs batted in, which is second-most in the National League behind Giancarlo Stanton's 93.

AT THE PLATE: The Dodgers collected five runs and five hits over six innings against Mets rookie fireballer Jacob deGrom. Carl Crawford stole his 20th base in the fourth inning. The 20-steal season is Crawford's first since 2010.

ON THE MOUND: Zack Greinke won his first game of the month by holding the Mets to four runs (three earned) over seven innings. The victory was Greinke's second in his last eight starts. He was far from his best on this night, as he gave up nine hits, including two home runs. Greinke has served up five home runs in his last four starts. J.P. Howell and Brian Wilson combined to a pitch a scoreless eighth inning. Kenley Jansen earned his 37th save.

ON THE FARM: Top prospect Joc Pederson made minor league history, becoming the first Pacific Coast League player in 80 years to hit 30 home runs and steal 30 bases in the same season. An outfielder with triple-A Albuquerque, Pederson stole his 30th base Saturday in Colorado Springs. He leads the PCL with 32 home runs. He is the fourth player to record a 30-30 season in the PCL, joining Tony Lazzeri (1925), Lefty O'Doul and Frank Demaree (1934). Pederson, 22, is expected to be called up to the major leagues for the first time in September, when teams are allowed to expand their rosters. However, Manager Don Mattingly said Pederson's role with the Dodgers would be minimal.

MEDICAL REPORT: Josh Beckett has a torn labrum in his left hip and is said to be contemplating retirement but appears to be making a last-ditch effort to pitch again this season. Beckett worked out in a pool and threw the ball from a sitting position.

EXTRA BASES: The announced attendance at Dodger Stadium was 51,115, making the Dodgers the first team in baseball to draw 3 million fans this season. Yasiel Puig was out of the lineup, as Mattingly observed that he looked fatigued in recent days. Andre Ethier started in center field.

UP NEXT: Kevin Correia (7-13, 4.87 earned-run average) will face Bartolo Colon (11-10, 3.85) and the Mets at Dodger Stadium at 1 p.m. Sunday. On the air: TV: SportsNet LA. Radio: 570, 1020.
